Easy on the juice!

The five a day recommendation is a well known, well advertised campaign to get people eating more fruit and veg. This sounds like a great campaign initially and well meaning – many people don’t eat enough veg, that’s clear! The problem with this kind of campaign is that it has become diluted. Is this due to other outside interests. Companies love to include their products on the recommended list of items counting towards your five a day. It is here where we’ve somehow gotten lost. Make time for health now or illness later

Why has the diet industry grown so much? There are many reasons why someone would want to take on a diet, ranging from temporary weight loss goals to battles with complex food issues. The food and diet industry is massive with numerous huge companies in the business of providing ‘diet’ foods and meal replacement products. The trouble is, you cannot replace food, in my opinion. The processes that take place and the hormonal symphony at play while we sleep is dramatic. If [read more....]

Just Eat Real Food…Avoid the Sweeteners!

So we’re heading into the back end of January and everyone has begun their fresh start (and maybe abandoned it already!) People have made their lifestyle change because ‘it’s not a diet, it’s a lifestyle!’, but what kind of lifestyle?. Many people will be on and off some kind of diet all year round. When you go into the supermarket, do you read labels on food? Do you take notice of the little nutritional traffic light system? Would you avoid a product if the label were red because of [read more....]
