TESTIMONIALS

Tom White 13386.IIQ.p.edit“Ian was my personal trainer for just over a year. I came to him with specific goals that I wanted to achieve in that time, and with his help, these were exceeded!
The best thing about working with Ian was that he educated me on how I should be training, rather than just telling me what to do. He helped me to understand what I was gaining from each exercise and made it easy for me to know what to do when I was working out on my own.
Had I not moved away from the area, Ian would still be my personal trainer now. The sessions were tough but fun, and Ian was always professional throughout. We still keep in touch now, and I would highly recommend him.”

“I first got in touch with Ian back in November 2014 to get som help with finding a solution to a challenge. Approximately 10 years ago I was diagnosed with M.E. (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis), and as a consequence, I put on significant amounts of weight. I sought Ian’s advice to help me find a way to lose weight without provoking the M.E. further through exercise and training.
Ian took some time to research this issue and got back to me with a suggestion that has had an incredible effect. Not only in terms of weight loss but also energy levels, which is one of the major challenges living with M.E.
Having relied mostly on quick and ready-made foods, the concept of actually making my own food seemed somewhat daunting, and as a result, it took a few months and a push from Ian to get me motivated. In fact, it took another 5 months and the book ‘Paleo Primer’ by Matt Whitmore and Keris Marsden (Ian’s suggestion) to get me started. It’s 7 months later, I’m 45kg lighter and my energy levels have improved significantly.
Ian’s advice and Paleo have become a way of life. I even enjoy cooking now which is very surprising as I have always found it a tedious task. That clean eating has an impact shouldn’t really come as a surprise to anyone, but the results have surprised and stunned me. However living clean dictates that we take a hard look at what the food we eat actually contain. Not only is it eye-opening, it also comes with significant health benefits.
Ian has changed my life, and although he will undoubtedly argue that I have done the work, he came up with the solution and pushed me to get it done. Suffice it to say that I am ever thankful for his help.”

Louisa Newlove, Customer Business Manager
louisa newlove“I started personal training about 2 and half years ago. I had just turned 30 and with a hectic career in sales and travelling a lot in the car I was struggling to keep in shape and could see the lbs creeping on.
Ian started me on a 12-week programme which included a balance of healthy eating/ nutrition tutorials and a variety of training sessions.
Firstly the food and nutrition guidance was a game changer alone. He helped me understand food and how it works to fuel and support the body.
It also helped me to make better choices about the food I bought.  Simple and good everyday advice that over time helped to support a life style change.
As for the training this was without exception tough but highly rewarding. As a female I was always put off by weights and thought they would ‘bulk me up’. However I very quickly noticed that combination of interval and resistance training completely changed my body shape delivering tone and shape across my whole body.
I would highly recommend training with Ian as he is professional and highly skilled and makes the PT fun and enjoyable.
Quite simply it has helped me to enjoy exercise, eat healthier and naturally adopt a healthier lifestyle.
Thanks Ian!!”

I’d consider myself a reasonably intelligent person but when I look back at my pattern of thoughts its laughable really…ignorance is bliss.
I approached Ian with a goal in mind….to hit the six pack zone (why not, one for the photo album!) I’ve been training since I was 17 and in my head the 3/4 times a week routine should ‘do the job’ so why couldn’t I keep the weight off…I was ignoring the key ingredient, diet. Ian taught me the importance of the diet and how the body responds…what’s good, what’s bad, what’s in the ‘grey areas’ and rather than giving me something that was restrictive, he gave me some principles to follow…no calorie counting, no points system just good advice to follow. As a result there was no feeling of being deprived. I followed this religiously for 30 days, thinking at the outset this would be hard…truth is, for the first week/10 days it was, as my body adjusted and I started to redevelop better habits.
I’m now well past the original plan and still maintaining. Its really straight forward, no will power required – Ian’s advice was spot on. I’ve lost weight and inches and my energy levels have never been so high…a dramatic improvement and thats an understatement. Talk to Ian about this and his training programmes that run along side, he knows his stuff inside and out, can’t recommend him highly enough”

Michelle Rhodes, Head of Design Authority – RWE npower
“Ian is an excellent personal trainer. His patience, skills, knowledge and understanding has helped me lose weight, feel and look the best I have in years and set me on the road to a healthier and happier life.  Ian’s enthusiasm and passion for what he does is infectious and his training technique inspires confidence and self belief.  I am now training at a level that I would not have thought possible six months ago and I look forward to each session and each session is different to the last.
I would highly recommend Ian. Whatever your goals are he will listen and identify how to help you reach them and if you follow his advice both from a training and a nutrition perspective you’ll see incredible results in your body and mental well-being. For me the evidence speaks for itself in how I look and feel!”

Yemi Oluboyede, Senior Research Fellow
yemi“I have known Ian and been training with him for over 3 years.  In that time my knowledge base around exercise and nutrition has been vastly improved.  Ian is unique in his ability to make you unknowingly surpass your expectations, of what you think you are capable of doing, all the while feeling comfortable and confident.
My training goals thus far have mainly been to improve my strength and stamina.  After recently becoming pregnant, however, I felt at a loss as to what I could and should be doing in my training.  I stopped training altogether because I was afraid I might do something wrong. Ian came to my rescue by teaching me about the changes that were happening in my body and the type of exercises I should and should not be doing at different stages in pregnancy.  Once I started training again I felt a lot more myself and, although I know I need to take it easy, it’s great to feel my strength coming back again!
Ian has not only been my trainer over the years, but I feel he has become a friend too and, I would highly recommend him.”

Phil Thomlinson, Customer Service Team Leader
Phil T“Having joined and left numerous gyms over the years (as I had no idea what I was doing), I finally plucked up the courage to get a personal trainer and I’ve been training with Ian now for over eighteen months and it’s the best thing I could’ve possibly done.
Ian’s knowledge of different exercises is amazing; I don’t think two sessions have ever been the same; he’s always giving me something different to challenge my body which keeps me interested and I’m always learning from him.
Ian has completely transformed my diet and the results have been absolutely fantastic. During our sessions Ian has educated me on how the body works and reacts to different food types. I took part in the 30 Day Healthy Movements Challenge and saw the fat just get stripped away; I have never looked and felt so good.
One of the greatest things of training with Ian is that he lets me be myself; he makes me feel welcome and comfortable so that I can perform at my best.
Training with Ian has changed my life for the better and I’ll always be incredibly grateful for that.”

Tim Carr, Company Director
Tim Carr“Ian is an excellent motivator, instructor and coach with a breadth of experience and social skills that lend his expertise to all environments.
My personal experience is that I have been able to quickly gain confidence and momentum and in a short period of time seen impressive results and shift toward weight loss and sustainable health and fitness.
As one would expect, Ian has expertise in managing injuries and is sufficiently astute to be able to push without causing more problems which stems from a long history as a sportsman interestingly however, Ian has many strings to his bow including a passion for education, nutrition, social change and equality as well as health and well being.
Ian walks his talk and uses humour and robust knowledge to motivate and inspire – I cannot recommend him highly enough and look forward to continued positive results!”

Kay Margerison, Deputy Director – Business Effectiveness at Defra Shared Services
“Ian has been my personal trainer since November 2010. Ian has provided a progressive programme of exercise over the year and supported me in that programme through periods of joint problems and fatigue. He has always pressed me to achieve the best that I can despite my limitations and has always made me feel successful. He has undertaken research specifically to offer me nutritional advice which reduces my joint problems.
Ian has a professional medical background which has given me the confidence to work to his exercise and nutritional programmes. I am so glad that I have as with his expertise I have developed knowledge and capacity that enable me to work independently when not working with him directly
Ian is professional, expert and knowledgeable. He has also developed a really excellent client relationship with me.
I would recommend Ian to anyone who wants a highly professional personal trainer who is able to deliver an individual appropriate programme  for his clients and shares the joy of physical achievement. He is a pleasure to work with.”

Chris Godbold, Clinical Technologist
chris godbold“Ian has been my personal trainer for 2 years and has always provided well structured training sessions with lots of encouragement and just the right balance of effort. Not too easy or too hard but at a level that leaves me feeling like I’ve had a good beneficial workout.
I’ve noticed a marked improvement in core strength, flexibility, stamina and posture which in turn has made me a more confident person. I used to think that as I got older my fitness levels would decrease but I’m finding that I’m achieving goals now that would have not been possible 10 years ago. Ian’s friendly manner along with his support and knowledge base have kept me motivated and I always come away with a sense of achievement.”

Tom Haworth, Senior Manager – Ambulance Service
TomHaworthprofile“I first started training with Ian as I had started to put quite a bit of weight on and wasn’t currently doing any exercise. I explained that my goal was to get fit and lose a bit of weight. At that point I used to get out of breath walking up the road!
Ian started me off on some basic movements so I could get the techniques right, before gradually introducing some weights to those movements and knocking it up a notch. At the same time, Ian explained how my diet can contribute massively to how I look and feel. I thought that eating a big bowl of pasta every night was healthy, and I thought nothing of having a pizza a couple of times a week.  Ian explained how these foods impact and made me look at my diet from a completely different angle. I quickly started to shed my excess weight and it wasn’t long before people started to make comment.  I now train 2 or 3 times a week, and Ian provides all the encouragement and advice I need to further improve.”
